Bell Ringing

Bell ringing has been happening at St Peter’s Church since it was built in 1863. The church had 6 bells cast in the steeple at this time. Our Bell Tower Captain, David Cox, started ringing St Peter’s bells in 1951 with his youth group. He was joined by fellow ringer, Edward Turner in 1960 when Edward was 11. They have been ringing the bells of St Peter’s together ever since.

Bell ringing rehearsals happen on Wednesday evenings and the bells can be heard across Bramley.

Bells are now rung on request for special church services and weddings.

David and Edward are featured in the photo's as young fledgling ringers.

There is also a photo of David and Edward in 2022 showing Julia, our Rector, the ropes!
