This year, we will journey through Advent with the theme "From Preparation to Proclamation.” Each Sunday, we will focus on a specific aspect of the season, lighting the candles of the Advent wreath and reflecting on the promises of God that were fulfilled in Jesus and continue to sustain us today.

Morning Prayer

Join us for Morning Prayer on Tuesdays at 9.30am, where we’ll be drawing on reflections from Tom Wright’s Advent for Everyone: A Journey Through Matthew. Each week we’ll share a short reflection, and if you’d like to go deeper, the book also offers a daily reading and meditation. You may find it helpful to have your own copy to use throughout the season.

Daily Advent Reflections

The Church of England are offering daily reflections in their resource ‘O Come Emmanuel’. This is available as a printed book, or on the Everyday Faith app (with audio) from 1-24 December. An outline of the reflections is now available to download to help you plan content around these reflections.

Bramley’s Families

Bramley’s Families have created some advent resources that can be used as a family. We will make these available to all St Peter’s Families. Ask Trudy or Julia for more information.

Reverse Advent Calendar Challenge

A reverse advent calendar is where you pick up one item a day to donate to the Leeds North and West Foodbank and put it in a box. This is a great way to modelling to young people that Christmas is a time for giving.

The Foodbank needs items such as:

• Tinned fruit • Tinned vegetables • Pasta sauce • Long life milk • Long life fruit juice • Tinned or packet puddings • Tinned fish • Tinned meat • Packets of biscuits • Rice, pasta or noodles • Tea bags • Coffee • Jam • Soup • Cereal • Tinned Tomatoes • Rice pudding • Tinned custard and of course, at Christmas chocolate is appreciated.

Bring your 24 collected items into church when you are finished, before or after Christmas, and leave in the chapel.

It would be wonderful if every household from St Peter’s could collect a box of 24 items for those that are struggling this Christmas.

The Salvation Army Christmas Toy Appeal

This year, we will once again support The Salvation Army in Bramley as they provide toys, and gifts for families who are in financial difficulty. These families have mostly been referred by professional support workers in health care, social care, and educational settings. They support on average around 500 children each year by providing toys, gifts and other Christmas goodies such as selection boxes.

If you'd like to help, we will be collecting new unwrapped toys or Christmas goodies at our Advent Family Celebration on Sunday 7th December.
